Introduction: Who is Kevin Michael Geary?

Kevin Michael Geary has positioned himself as a voice of authority within parts of the WordPress community.

Best known for his work around Oxygen Builder, Bricks Builder, and design systems like AutomaticCSS, Kevin Geary has built a significant following.

But behind the polished business persona lies a long, disturbing history – one that many in the WordPress ecosystem either never knew, or chose to ignore.

Today, we’re putting the full record on display.

Because if people are going to trust Kevin Geary as a leader, they deserve to know who they’re really dealing with.

Kevin Michael Geary has a long history of hate, racism, sexism and advocacy of violence.

Part 1: Kevin Geary’s Early Digital Footprint

Before Kevin Geary became a known figure in the WordPress and web design communities, he was publishing a blog called This Is Broken Blog under his real name.

(Proof of authorship: Guest post linking back to his blog on ProBlogger)

What he posted there is not a matter of interpretation.

It’s a matter of record.

Hispanic Hate Speech by Kevin Geary

“What does Mexico mean to us? They come across a border illegally, steal our healthcare, steal our jobs, make citizen babies, and increase the crime rate. Why are we celebrating their heritage?”

“Cinco de Mayo is a Corona holiday. I think Corona and probably the likes of Jose Cuervo have paid to prop this holiday up so they can sell more beer and Tequila.”

Part 2: Kevin Michael Geary’s Long Pattern of Industry-Hopping and Reputation Management

Kevin Michael Geary’s current behavior in the WordPress community isn’t new.

It follows a long-established pattern:

  • Enter a new industry.
  • Build an audience using fear-based marketing and absolutist positioning.
  • Create paid “inner circles” or premium memberships around his personal brand.
  • Attack dissenters or critics as “haters” or “low-quality individuals.”
  • Eventually flame out, blame the industry, and move on while claiming the industry couldn’t survive without him.

This cycle has repeated itself for over a decade.

Early Career: “The Money Hawk” and “Six Figure Grind”

Kevin Geary’s first major digital pivot was promoting lifestyle businesses through brands like The Money Hawk and Six Figure Grind.

The message was always the same:

Escape the rat race. Build passive income. Follow my blueprint.

He leaned heavily on promising success formulas and positioning himself as a savvier guide than others.

Sound familiar?

Health and Fitness Pivot: “Rebooted Body”

Around 2012–2013, Kevin Geary pivoted again, this time into the health and fitness space with Rebooted Body.

Again, the tactics were recognizable:

  • Frame the industry as broken and corrupt.
  • Position himself as the outsider who “really gets it.”
  • Sell lifestyle programs, coaching, and paid memberships.

As criticism mounted, Kevin blamed the industry, blamed the audience, and ultimately exited, framing it as the fitness industry’s loss.

The same grievance-centered marketing he uses now was fully visible back then (source)

The Web Development Pivot: “Digital Ambition”

By 2020, Kevin Michael Geary had pivoted once again – running his Digital Ambition business, while being the COO of Haman Creative which he promoted in the footer of his Digital Ambition website.

Here, he moved into web strategy & coaching, initially promoting Divi in his preferred tech stack.

(Yes, Divi – the builder he now mocks openly.)

At this time, he was positioning himself not as a WordPress development expert, but as a business coach for web professionals – selling, again, a lifestyle-focused narrative of success and freedom.

It wasn’t until 2021 that Kevin shifted again … this time aggressively embedding himself in the Oxygen and later Bricks builder communities, using familiar tactics:

  • Establish an “inner circle” of paid loyalists.
  • Declare himself the standard-bearer for quality.
  • Attack competitors and critics as “beta males” or “unprofessional.”

Modern Day: History Repeats

Today, Kevin Geary is using the WordPress ecosystem as his next stage – repeating the same fear-based marketing, loyalty gatekeeping, and public attacks on anyone who questions him.

Recent examples:

  • When confronted on his stance of $5,000 websites, he got upset and ended up calling me a girl then throwing in a trans joke to boot (source)
  • Deleted our public debate video after it became clear he couldn’t control the narrative.
  • Attempted to scrub past content and reshape his history to present himself as an unchallenged authority.
  • Continued to show signs of bigotry and hostility in recent months – including jokes about marginalized groups and accusations of “woke mind virus” thinking (source).

Worse, some members of the WordPress leadership community – like Remkus de Vries – were alerted to Kevin’s documented history of hate speech, chose to distance themselves publicly – only to later dine and celebrate with him (source).

This is in the midst of rumors floating around about his racist past as well 🤔

This is Not Ancient History

Some defenders have tried to argue Kevin’s bigoted comments were “a long time ago.”

But even recent posts reveal the same underlying anger, ignorance, and contempt for marginalized people:

  • Kevin’s continued hostile language toward marginalized groups (source).
  • Evidence that others in the WordPress community had raised concerns about his behavior long before the recent debate (source).
  • Red flags in his understanding of racial history and voter suppression (source).

As one Reddit commenter put it:

“Kevin Geary is only good at CSS. He lies about his career, reinvents himself constantly, and expects blind loyalty. Do your own research.”

📂 Reddit commentary

Kevin Michael Geary’s current behavior isn’t an accident.

It’s a pattern.

And it’s playing out, once again, right now in the WordPress community.

Kevin Michael Geary is a grifter who has gone from industry to industry pushing fear and hate in order to line his own pockets

Part 3: Kevin Geary’s History is Not an Accident

Kevin Michael Geary’s controversies in the WordPress community today aren’t isolated mistakes or youthful errors.

They are the latest chapter in a long, documented pattern:

  • Enter an industry.
  • Stir division while selling loyalty and fear.
  • Attack anyone who questions him.
  • Burn bridges and rewrite history when it’s no longer profitable.

From early racist blog posts, to fear-driven health marketing, to manipulative coaching tactics, to his current campaign inside WordPress, the playbook hasn’t changed – only the audience has.

The pattern was always there.

People just chose not to look.

Now, with the full record on display, the WordPress community has a choice:

Will you stand for integrity – or keep enabling the same destructive cycles?

You were warned.
